People don’t go to Ye Olde Butcher Shop in Plano, Texas for the ambiance; they go for the food. Carnivores pack the place for their Valentine’s Death by Chocolate dinner. The meal was catered by Jeff, Jerri, and Josh Sparks. My daughter and her husband went with some friends for the second year in a row and raved about it so much, I felt I should share it with you.
The 5-course menu was impressive:
1st – mini grilled cheese sandwiches; they layer cheese, white chocolate, and strawberry slices in the grilled sandwich – uniquely delicious; left them gasping in anticipation of what was next!
2nd – pumpkin chipotle soup with a touch of chocolate – the hosts had dumped piles of Hershey’s kisses and truffles on the tables, so my daughter and friends added a few more to their soup – I’m withholding my opinion on this one
3rd – mixed greens, pecans, and goat cheese salad with chocolate balsamic dressing – Yes!
4th – smoked chicken with apricot-chocolate sauce, white chocolate truffle mac and cheese and wild rice with cranberries – that sounds divine
5th – Chocolate Lovers Delight – decadent chocolate cheesecake, chunks of chocolate, lots of whipped cream, and a chocolate covered strawberry – served with a lovely red rose …
and Oreo cookie flavored cake balls on a stick to take home. How nice!
This is a BYOB place, but the hosts provided a list of wine suggestions prior to the dinner. My daughter and friends absolutely love this place and highly recommend it. Maybe we should mark our calendars for next year. It seats about 50 people and sells out fast.
Happy V-D to you!
