I’m moonstruck this Halloween! I’d heard about Moonstruck Chocolates for years. I was really looking forward to the trip to Portland to see a couple of relatives and explore their chocolate scene. But, shortly before the trip I fell and broke my left hand and two fingers. I decided not to go with my pain pills and big purple cast. Kelly (my daughter) and her family went. Aside from not seeing the sun for three days, it was a good time.
She called when they got back and told me she brought me a box of Moonstruck Chocolates. She said they would have to be moonstruck because if they waited for the sun, there would never be any chocolates. Oh well, perfect for Halloween. I jumped in the gypsy wagon (my beloved black Cadillac) and drove across town to Kelly’s house. Of course, it was great to see her, but ‘where are the chocolates?’ She slid the box toward me and we sat at her kitchen island and sampled … and sampled. They were possibly the richest chocolates I’ve ever had. The chocolate was one step away from being butter. They were a perfectly smooth consistency. Kelly had selected a cute Halloween collection; there were ghosts, mummies, werewolves, and devils. We ate them all. Kelly’s favorite was the blood orange devil truffle and mine was the praline mummy, tied with the peanut butter ghost. They were truly delightful, decadent in fact. But I felt the flavor intensity was a bit weak, and somewhat overwhelmed by the thick buttery chocolate shells. Still, I would never say no to one.
Moonstruck was a perfect treat for Halloween. I loved them and loved sampling and giggling with my daughter. I hope you, too, have some thrilling times and tastes today!
